Dawn Oliver Wiand

President/CEO

Originally from Des Moines, Dawn joined the Iowa Women’s Foundation as President/CEO in February 2013 after most recently serving as Executive Director for the Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City for eight years.

Dawn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa and has worked in the nonprofit field for more than 30 years as a volunteer and professional. She spent the first 15 years in the public housing field, providing direct services, and then moved into nonprofit management, focusing on fundraising and ultimately providing vision, leadership, and management to two women’s funds.

In 2013, the Corridor Business Journal named Dawn as one of the area’s Movers & Shakers.

Dawn enthusiastically lives by the belief that “improving the lives of women and girls is a must, not only for our families but our communities and, ultimately, our world!”

Helen Dailey

Vice President of Finance

Originally from Chicago, Helen has lived in Iowa City for over 40 years. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics-Interior Design from the University of Iowa and later earned her MBA there.  Having worked for 25 years in banking, 16 years as Director of Operations and Facilities at the University of Iowa Foundation, and prepared taxes, Helen now serves as Vice President of Finance for IWF.  She is also active with and has served on the boards of a number of community organizations in Iowa City.

Ann Parker

Program Manager

Ann has called Iowa City home for the better part of her career. She graduated from City High School, attended Iowa State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business, and after a short stint in Minneapolis, returned to Iowa City. She has been actively involved with a number of local organizations, serving on boards and volunteering her time while working full-time in the promotional products industry and raising two boys with her husband Brad.

Lori Lane

Development Manager

A native of Waterloo who once also called Sioux City home, Lori currently resides in Cedar Rapids. She has had a long career as a nonprofit administrator, primarily in the arts and culture sector, and across three states. Previously she has worked with Cedar Rapids Opera, National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Florida Easter Seal Society, American Composers Forum, and Minnesota Center for Book Arts.

Lori holds an MSL from Mt. Mercy University and a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of Iowa. As a volunteer, she has been a vocal advocate for quality public schools, access to arts education, and environmental causes. She currently serves on the Board of Harmony School of Music in Cedar Rapids and is a former IWF Board member.

Sheri Penney

Employment Engagement Director

Sheri is a native Iowan raised in Williamsburg and now lives in Osage. She has a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa. Recently, Sheri was the Economic Development Director for Mitchell County.  She has experience working with businesses of all sizes and recently formed a team to look at ways to increase the availability of quality affordable child care in the county. Sheri has also been a child care provider and brings early care experience and knowledge to the position. She has extensive experience working with boards, committees and volunteers. She is described as a collaborator, connector and  visionary who is an excellent communicator, well received, and doesn’t shy away from a challenge.

Sheri is active in her community as president-elect of the Osage Rotary. She is a member of PDI and attended the Heartland Economic Development Course. She also teaches fitness classes in her community. Sheri is married to Chris and mother of three young children.
