Vice Chair

Barb currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Iowa Women’s Foundation. Barb was first introduced to IWF through a childcare needs assessment in her community. She became more involved and was then asked to join the Board of Directors.

A West Union native, Barb earned her BS in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Iowa and her MBA from University of Phoenix. With a lifelong interest in communications, she became the Director of Advertising and Community Relations at Grinnell Mutual after a 30-year career as an insurance specialist.

Barb’s community involvement includes serving on the Governor’s Task Force for Empowering Rural Iowa Communities, the Iowa Sports Foundation, and the Grinnell Community Task Force. She is also a member of multiple industry related organizations at local, regional, and state levels.

Barb is passionate about the Foundation’s mission to improve the lives of women and girls in Iowa. By breaking down barriers, we all have a chance to thrive.
