Zach Wahls, an author, entrepreneur and advocate, will be delivering the keynote speech at the Iowa Women’s Foundation’s 18th Annual Luncheon, taking place from 11:30 – 1:00 on October 22, 2014 at the Coralville Marriott.
Mr. Wahls, made famous by his inspiring Iowa House Judiciary Committee address speaking out against a proposed ban on gay marriage in Iowa and his book MyTwo Moms, will be sharing the struggles of his journey in standing up for what he believes in. Zach will also share with luncheon attendees concrete ways to take action to create a future that improves the lives of Iowa’s women and girls.
“This is the first time in the IWF’s 20-year history that we have had a male speak at our luncheon,” noted Dawn Oliver Wiand, Executive Director of the Iowa Women’s Foundation. “I cannot think of a better or more fitting speaker. Zach knows first –hand how it feels to be viewed as ‘different’ and through his mothers, he has seen the difficulties that still exist for Iowa’s women. Zach’s success in advocacy is something we can all learn from, and we are thrilled to have him share his thoughts on how each and every one of us can become better advocates for Iowa’s women and girls.”
The Iowa Women’s Foundation’s Luncheon will be held on October 22, 2014 at the Marriott Coralville Hotel and Conference Center.
