LaShonda joined IWF after meeting former President & CEO, Dawn Oliver Wiand at a luncheon. She is passionate about improving the lives of women and girls everywhere and has volunteered with multiple women’s funds.
After earning her MEd in Counseling Education and BA in Communications from Wake Forest University, LaShonda worked for Denver Public Schools and Kirkwood Community College. She is currently an Instructor at College of San Mateo.
Her work in higher education has led her to be most passionate about shattering the Education/Training barrier. She has seen the difference education can play in the lives of women and their ability to change the trajectory of their own lives.
Despite relocating to California, LaShonda has continued to participate on the Boards of IWF and the African American Museum of Iowa. She is involved with a variety of boards and committees in California as well.
