The Iowa Women’s Foundation (IWF) is proud to partner with over 100 state-based organizations. Since 1994, $1.68 million has been awarded to 307 programs, benefitting thousands of women and girls in all 99 Iowa counties. Writing for Change

Iowa Youth Writing Project

In fall 2014, the Iowa Youth Writing Project successfully launched Writing for Change, a literacy project to mentor and empower at-risk girls now in the John McDonald Residential Treatment Center in Monticello.

L.U.N.A. Promotora Program

Latinas Unidas por un Nuevo Amanecer (L.U.N.A.)

The L.U.N.A. promotora program will engage women to participate in the community while developing leadership and management skills.

Life Skills for Young Moms

Young Women’s Resource Center

Life Skills for Young Moms is a 12-week program to teach the basics of personal finance, review job application skills, introduce local resources, and offer individual coaching.

Strong Girls Read Strong Books

Strong Girls Read Strong Books provides the means for girls to see themselves as readers, thoughtful decision-makers, and leaders.

The Women’s Business Center

ISED Ventures

The WBC offers a series of workshops for low-income and low-capital women on creating a business along with individual counseling.

Writing for Change

Iowa Youth Writing Project (IYWP)

For 2 years IYWP led writing workshops at IJH with University of Iowa students and Iowa City community members working with girls to hone their writing skills within a community of active listeners. Writing for Change will offer similar creative writing and empowerment workshops for adolescent girls at a residential treatment home in Monticello.

Young Women in Business Conference

Waverly Area Small Business lncubator and Consultation Center

The overall goal for the Waverly Area Small Business lncubator and Consultation Center is to educate and assist female entrepreneurs in researching, launching and sustaining small businesses in NE Iowa.

Acting Out! Performing Arts for Healthy Choices

Planned Parenthood of the Heartland

The Acting Out teen theatre troupe project in Sioux City, IA, (Woodbury County) is a peer education troupe using theatre to address issues critical to teens.

Ascent

Ascent’s IGNITE program is a pilot program that provides mentoring and educational opportunities to women business owners in Iowa.

LOVE Girls Training and Internship Program

Love Girls Magazine/The Community Foundation of Great River Band

With the assistance of IWF's grant, Love Girls Magazine will host a leadership development and media and marketing internship program for adolescent girls ages 13 to 19 years old.
