The Working to Institutionalize Sex Education (WISE) program will continue to partner with school districts to implement sexual health education programs and policies that are comprehensive, medically accurate, inclusive, and comply with a state mandate requiring districts to provide age-appropriate, research-based instruction in human growth and development in grades 1 – 12. Through WISE, EOI has partnered with 37% of Iowa’s school districts. The goals for this program include decreasing teen pregnancy rates in Iowa; help young women graduate with access to services such as pre-natal care and child care; and ensure that young women have access to education that helps them set boundaries, prevent sexual assault, and engage in healthy relationships.
