Funding will expand and add depth to iJAG’s trades and commercial construction pathway for women by supporting access to key professional events and activities that expose girls to trade careers by removing transportation and financial barriers. Rental of charter buses (due to lack of school bus drivers) to allow female students to attend events, direct student support with gas cards, bus passes, clothing, steel-toed boots and more, and employee wages.
The program will include career exploration in targeted fields focusing on nontraditional careers and engagement with employer partners in specific industries. iJAG will increase the number of partnerships with female tradespeople who can serve as classroom and on-the-job mentors through connections with employers in the areas of IT, healthcare, skilled trades and advanced manufacturing across the state.
