Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is one of Iowa’s largest nonprofit human services agencies. These services include child abuse prevention programs, treatment for children struggling with mental health, skill-building programs for families in crisis, services for people with disabilities, and refugee and immigrant services. LSI has been a grant partner with the Iowa Women’s Foundation since 2015, providing training and state registration for refugee and immigrant women that wish to become in-home child care providers. The program was created to build bridges within the child care system for prospective and existing child care providers from various ethnic groups.
