Job Description
Iowa Women’s Foundation (IWF) is committed to improving the lives of Iowa’s women and girls through a diversified mix of action and funding, including research, grantmaking, advocacy, education, and collaboration. IWF is the only statewide organization dedicated to funding programs, conducting research and advocating for women in every community in Iowa.
IWF seeks a dynamic, experienced leader of strategic initiatives to convene communities, businesses and policymakers to eliminate barriers to women’s economic self-sufficiency. IWF’s current focus is facilitating solutions to increase affordable, accessible childcare in communities of all sizes across Iowa. IWF highly values its trusted, ongoing relationships with key community stakeholders across Iowa. The Strategic Initiatives Director will continue to steward these connections while facilitating increased awareness, action and solutions in additional Iowa communities.
The Strategic Initiatives Director will be a key member of the IWF team. They will implement the full scope of work in IWF’s partnership with IEDA and Iowa HHS. In addition, the Director will be part of the program team analyzing the newest data on the status of women in Iowa and determining strategic future opportunities to eliminate barriers to success for women and girls.
Job Details
Position responsibilities:
- Serve as key connector among community leaders, businesses/employers and policymakers to facilitate community-level solutions to expand childcare access
- Present current data and statewide solutions frameworks for childcare access to community, donor and business audiences
- Provide technical assistance to communities applying for and receiving regional and statewide grants
- Serve as primary liaison between IWF and statewide departments including Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Health & Human Services
- Collect community and statewide data required by IEDA/HHS grant guidelines
- Convene the Iowa Business & Childcare Coalition to leverage their experiences and wisdom to guide IWF policy priorities
- Partner with Iowa Child Care Resource & Referral on relevant projects
- Represent IWF at state and national conferences
- Serve as primary contact for other states and entities seeking to learn more about Iowa’s childcare expansion efforts
- Provide regular updates to IWF leadership on progress in areas of strategic initiatives
- Provide support to IWF’s efforts to update data related to the status of Iowa women across a number of economic metrics
- Participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate
