Susan served on the IWF Board from 2003–2004, began providing legal counsel in 2006, and currently serves IWF as both advisory and legal counsel.

Susan grew up in Maysville and studied Nursing at University of Iowa. For fifteen years she worked as a critical care nurse and administrator before returning to her alma mater—this time for law school. After a twenty-year law career, Susan “retired” in 2008 to help with organic farming at Small Frye Farm.

She established the farm’s Community Supported Agriculture network in 2013 and continues to farm full-time. She resides in both Iowa City and Maysville, dividing her time as needed.

Devoted to helping others, Susan offers her time wherever she can—including as a farm sponsor for World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms programs and projects.
