Joy is committed to the progress of women and girls everywhere, and began donating to IWF in 1996. She has since served on the Board as a member and past president and as Chair of the Advisory Council.
A life-long Iowan, Joy earned her BA in Education and MA in Special Education from University of Northern Iowa. She also earned an MA in History from the University of Iowa—with an emphasis in gender studies.
Joy taught elementary and special education for over two decades and most recently offered consultation services. She has been active in the community for years and currently volunteers at Horace Mann Elementary, TRAIL of Johnson County, and more.
Joy appreciates IWF’s work in shattering barriers, especially through community collaboration. She is passionate about preserving reproductive freedom and access to care due to the role it plays in women’s health and economic self-sufficiency.
