Originally from Estherville, Iowa, Ellen’s dissatisfaction with the lack of gender equality led her to become a founding member of IWF. She served on the Board for many years and currently serves on both the Grants Committee and the Advisory Council.
Ellen taught Art at both the elementary and secondary levels before returning to school for graduate studies in Instructional Design. Following this, she worked in child psychology research and on various research projects at the University of Iowa College of Public Health. Although she formally retired in 2013, Ellen continues working for the DeLTA Center—an interdisciplinary group of researchers interested in learning and development issues.
Ellen has been a member of the League of Women Voters of Johnson County for many years and dreams of a day where there are no barriers—only equal opportunities for ALL. Until then, perseverance is key.
