Ovation: A Tribute to Iowa Women and Girls
Ovation: A Tribute to Iowa Women and Girls is IWF’s signature annual publication. Ovation provides a fun, simple and unique way to pay tribute to a woman or girl in your life. Each year, the publication contains personal tributes to amazing women and girls from around the state, sponsored by family members, friends, colleagues, or community members who value the impact of the profiled woman or girl.
Through the publication’s tributes, we gain a glimpse into the deeply important and enormously varied ways these women affect their families, friends, community, and professions.
The publication of the tributes also serves as a critical part of the IWF’s annual operating funds and helps enable IWF to accomplish its mission of improving the lives of Iowa’s women and girls. More than 700 women and girls across the state have been honored with a tribute since the book’s inception in 2014.
For more details on how to honor that special woman or girl in your life, check out the 2023 commitment form located here. This form can be downloaded and completed electronically to email to IWF, or print a copy and mail to the IWF Office.

Eighty-nine amazing individuals were honored in the 9th edition of OVATION: A Tribute to Iowa Women and Girls in June. This year’s honorees include a Detective Lieutenant who leads her team as the head of its Investigations Division; a game-changing educator who became the first woman to serve as the President of Iowa State University; and a brilliant 17-year-old who invented a low-cost method for preventing post-surgical infections in developing countries.
For the first time in OVATION history, we unveiled books in Clinton, Council Bluffs, and Sioux City. We are thrilled to recognize more women from across the state!
