Systems Change in Action: Childcare
The Childcare Solutions Fund
Childcare is one of the most significant barriers to women’s economic stability in Iowa. Through the Childcare Solutions Fund, IWF applied its five-pillar approach to create a scalable, research-driven solution.
Results from pilot communities include:
- 275 new childcare slots created
- 105 childcare providers engaged
- 1,200+ childcare personnel impacted
- $2.4 million raised from 373 private-sector investors
Independent analysis shows that if expanded statewide, this model could:
- Add nearly 11,000 childcare slots
- Enable 5,000 women to enter the workforce
- Support approximately 8,000 jobs
- Expand Iowa’s GDP by $13 billion over the next decade
The Childcare Solutions Fund demonstrates the impact that is possible when systems change is built through evidence, partnership and investment.
