Davis County is a “Child Care Desert”. There are at least 3 children for every child care spot available. The Davis County Daycare and Preschool is a nonprofit center that has been providing care in Davis County for over 40 years. They are licensed by DHS and participate in the Iowa’s Quality Rating System in which they have three stars. Child Care and educational experiences are provided for children ages six weeks to twelve years old. They also provide three-year-old preschool, before and after school care as well as non-school days and summer programs for school-age children. IWF funding will enable Davis County Daycare and Preschool to open an extra classroom. This classroom will be licensed for 24 four-year olds but can be adjusted for another age group if needed. Ultimately, increasing the availability of quality affordable child care in Davis County.
