Ready, Set, GROW (RSG) is partnering with Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake, Iowa to open a child care center in a community without a center for child care. Anticipated opening is Spring of 2019. Methodist Manor has built a new center and RSG will occupy a vacated hall of the former nursing home. The hall will connect the assisted living building and the new long-term care facility. The partnership will benefit the child served as well as the elderly residents who call Methodist Manor their home. IWF funds will help cover the construction costs associated with remodeling the exiting nursing home rooms to accommodate for child care. RSG will provide care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. They will also provide before and after school care and summer care with extended hours of operation. Storm Lake (population 10,000+) has been without a child care center for 8 years. This center will give families an option for child care while increasing the availability of quality affordable child care in Buena Vista, Cherokee and Sac counties.
