Shelley was introduced to IWF by Former President & CEO Dawn Oliver Wiand while working on a project with the Harkin Institute and has been a fan ever since.
Shelley grew up in Dallas Center, IA, earning her BS from the University of Iowa. She went on to obtain her MPH from Des Moines University and her EdD from Creighton University. Today, she works as the Director of Early Intervention and Support for the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
Shelley’s commitment to education and enrichment is also displayed through her community involvement. She serves as a board member for the Early Childhood Success Cabinet at the United Way of Central Iowa and the Dallas Center Parks and Recreation.
Of the six primary barriers, Shelley is most passionate about education and training. She believes education is a crucial vehicle in building a better future for Iowa’s women and girls.
