Candace Thompson moved to Iowa city as an infant and has always called Iowa home. She attended Johnson County Community School District K-12 and received her high school diploma from Iowa City High School, graduating class of 2008.
She began her career in HR Management in 2018 and, shortly after, became a small business owner, providing HR Consulting services to a variety of clients. In addition, she received her certification in Medical Billing and Coding. She brings years of experience in bookkeeping, HR management as well as project and operations management. She is proud to use this expertise to help further IWF’s mission.
As an active member of several female entrepreneur groups, she supports women by sharing resources and uplifting their successes.
As a woman, single mother of two and African American living in Iowa, Candace has firsthand experience with barriers faced by women, especially with childcare. She’s grateful to join IWF and become a part of this movement that supports not only the community she lives in but all women and girls in Iowa.
