The 7th edition of Ovation: A Tribute to Iowa Women and Girls has been unveiled! Ovation is the IWF’s signature publication and serves as a critical part of fundraising efforts each year. This year, 99 women from across the state were recognized with a tribute in the book. We are proud to honor these women and celebrate each for the diverse and unique backgrounds each one shares with her family, friends, colleagues and community.

In celebration of the passing of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote in America, the book is dedicated to three women who led the suffrage movement in Iowa: Carrie Chapman Catt, Mary Jane Coggeshall and Annie Savery. These women’s spirited leadership paved the way to Iowa becoming the 10th state in the nation to ratify the 19th Amendment in 1920. As we continue to work towards equal rights for all women, we celebrate the achievements of so many dedicated, talented and passionate women. They, too, are the history of Iowa.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and requirements of social distancing, four Unveilings were pre-recorded and included video clips of the honorees receiving their gift wrapped books. Each program is specific to a group of women based in a community. To view each event, visit the IWF FaceBook page at: and scroll to videos to watch the presentations in Iowa City, Iowa City/Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and the Cedar Valley.
