The 23rd Annual Luncheon was held at the Coralville Marriott Hotel and Conference Center on October 3rd, 2019. 800 attendees filled the ballroom to celebrate 25 years of improving the lives of Iowa’s women and girls. Guest speaker, Michayla Hughes-Shaw, shared her experience with Love Girls Magazine and the valuable impact it has had on teenage girls in the Quad Cities area. Keynote Speaker, Dr. Angela Sadler Williamson, spoke about her cousin Rosa Parks and how activism never sleeps. It is now more important than ever to shatter the barriers that are keeping Iowa’s women and girls from success.
IWF Board President Jill Olsen announced the selection of 2020 Grant Recipients awarding $100,000 to these organizations: House of Hope, Domestic Violence Intervention Program, Girls on the Run of Eastern Iowa, Grin & Grow, Ltd., Heartland Family Service, Lutheran Services in Iowa, Mason City Family YMCA, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, Inc., St. Mark’s Youth Enrichment, University of Iowa Labor Center, and YWCA Clinton. This brings the total granted to nearly $1 million since the first awards were made in 1997.
