What will the next generation of female leaders look like?
Will they stand tall and freely share their insights? Will discussions regarding their accomplishments exceed the commentary regarding their shoes, clothes and affiliations? The tools we teach today hold the power to counter self-doubt and diminished self-esteem plaguing many young girls.
The Girls Circle Model incorporates the knowledge, skills and support needed to combat this trend. YWCA Clinton, our 2008 grant partner, adopted the Girls Circle curriculum, through IWF grant dollars in January 2008. In their annual report, Amber MacGrath states, "YWise Girls has taught my daughter a lot about friendship. She is learning how to be a leader and team player. She feels she has a safe place to share and learn conflict resolution."
