Pause

Each May, we pause to collectively remember an important truth:
The women we know work hard.
          They make a difference.
They enrich our lives and our community.

Since 2005, the Iowa Women’s Foundation (IWF) has encouraged an expansion of the tradition in which we honor our mothers one designated day a year for their love and hard work.

Celebrate

Mother's and Other's Day on May 13 by contributing to the Iowa Women's Foundation (IWF) in honor of the inspirational women in your life.Mothers and Others Day widens the recognition to all women, promoting the belief that mentoring, guidance and support comes from many sources. Our lives are impacted and enriched through the relationships we develop with our grandmothers, aunts, cousins, teachers, neighbors and friends.Your investment will help advance economic security and promote leadership development for Iowa's women and girls.  By reshaping tradition, IWF offers the opportunity to make a thoughtful gesture of recognition, while building up support for grant programs benefiting the larger community. It is a way to transform a one-day holiday into lasting social change.

A Mother Remembered

"I am donating in memory of my mother, Bersha E. Brown. Mom went to work in the factory (Collins Radio) in 1942- we always knew Mom was the Rosie, the Riveter except she didn't come back after the war. She worked at Collins Radio for 45 years. She was a union steward! She trained men that went on to become presidents and executives of Collins. She taught her daughters a work ethic for all time. She never sought the limelight, but met most of the early astronauts. Growing up- I didn't realize how much I would follow her teachings by example.
My hope is to pass this on to my daughters and granddaughters.”
