Individual Category Finalist of 2009 Leadership Award

Elizabeth Daly

Bankers Trust Corporation
Cedar Rapids
Nominated by Sue Pence

Elizabeth Daly enjoys helping women and girls gain knowledge, skills and confidence to navigate our changing world.

For 13 years, Elizabeth has been active with International Rotary Youth Exchange. Over 70% of the participants of this program are women, and she has been very active in recruiting participants and preparing them to thrive in remote and urban settings all over the globe.

As Vice President and Private Banking Manager since Bankers Trust opened in Cedar Rapids, Elizabeth has facilitated the bank's sponsorship of the Women's Leadership Conference in an unusual way; scholarships to enroll women of minorities in the conference. And she didn't stop there: she has taken a personal interest in each of these women sponsored by the bank, and has been proud to help them in many ways, including introductions leading to wonderful positions with local employers. Within her own institution, Elizabeth has worked behind the scenes to support pay equity and promotions for women.

Throughout her career in the financial industry, Elizabeth has used her understanding of the challenges faced by women pursuing careers to help them with financial planning and other tools to break through glass ceilings. She is often sought to provide knowledge and tools to help women navigate their way through difficult transitions in life, including marriage dissolution and other events requireing new responsibilities for raising familes.

Elizabeth is proud to have been chosen for the Iowa Women's Leadership Planning Committee this year. She'll use this honor to share her knowledge and zest for art, education and networking to help women be all they can be.

I highly recommend Elizabeth Daly for the honor of a 50% Solution Award from the Iowa Women's Foundation.
